20. Back to South Africa

James finished reading the diary. The diary appeared to be written during different stages in the life of SOS. The different styles of writing were very evident in his diary. Does this mean SOS had committed a suicide?’ ‘And does this mean DD was a polygamist too?’ James was thinking all this in his mind. He did lot of investigation on DD’s past for nearly a month, to find that James was not only the adopted son of DD but the son born to DD and Emily Rose. Till his sixth, he was grown by his uncle (who was his father as per records) and mother. When they died of an accident, his original dad DD had adopted him and had grown him up. He didn’t know this till now and had never suspected it.

‘How did SOS find all this?’, James was wondering. And his friend Jeffery was still missing.

To the surprise of James while investigating about SOS he found that both Jeffery and SOS were the same persons and SOS didn’t die. James’ OOBT played a vital role here. James understood that Jeffery didn’t join him to help him but to analyse how he was solving the case. The office in which Jeffery worked had a camera placed in it. James got the video from that office, and found that Jeffery was missing during the murders.

To confirm his idea about SOS, James left to South Africa. After some more investigation he found that SOS didn’t die. He was alive taking care of Sam’s farm.

James paid a visit to the farm of Jeffery. Jeffery remained calm and welcomed him stating that he had to leave to South Africa due to his commitments and he was sorry for not informing him.

James said, “Eh Jeff! I know you are SOS. You can’t act anymore.”

Jeffery replied, “Technically SOS is dead. He had done his part in cleansing the society. And congrats on finding that I was SOS. But I am no more SOS. I am just Jeffery. You don’t have enough proof to arrest me.”

James smiled and replied, “You were smart. But I did solve my case. Yours was a tricky case. But still I solved it. I just want to know how you found about my dad DD’s polygamy.”

“Well my mum and your mum were sisters. We are brothers. But it is really pathetic that you never knew that. You need not worry about SOS anymore. He’s dead. He would never trouble you again.”

“But, I would be missing his mystic puzzles and anagrams”, said James.

“Oh! That! Actually SOS borrowed it from Jeffery. I had just now composed an anagram poem James”, try solving it while I make tea for us.

Brave cow, serene lake.

Over analysed new fancy.

Invite queer, the hassle!

James could not believe all this. It was just like a dream for him. He pinched himself hard. It was aching hard. It wasn’t a dream. It was real!
